Someone recommended that we try the Big Fish Bar and Grille in Wilmington, Illinois. The restaurant is only about 30 minutes from the house and their menu online looked pricey but good. I knew I wanted to treat my family to a nice meal so I purchased the $50 certificate from restaurant.com and we decided to enjoy it for Mother's Day.



I made reservations on last weekend. The restaurant made reservations for 1pm but called back later that day and said because it was Mother's Day, they were only taking reservations for 12 and 2pm. No mention that it was a special promotion. Their website made no mention that it was a special promotion day/brunch either.



We drove our 30 minutes to Big Fish and I realized I had left the certificate at home. I drove back home and then back again to Big Fish. I had a seat with my family, set my certificate on the table so it could be seen and we were then given plates for a brunch buffet - no menu.



We ate. The food was mediocre, some cold, and by the time I got there it was picked over. The waitress twice pushed the certificate out of the way instead of taking it. When picking up the check for payment, she informed me that they could not accept because it was promotion day. I explained our situation to her. She returned and said the manager said it could not be accepted. We left frustrated and with $139.00 less in the wallet. The amount we spend weekly for groceries.



Our delightful Mother's day turned bad and we will not be returning to Big Fish with or without a certificate.

We started out last summer at this marina. It is beauitful with friendly staff and it is full service. The pool is nice for the kids in the sun and then the bar and lounge is a nice place to relax and listen to live music.

I would recommend this place to everyone. The food is great and the people working there make sure you are well taken care off. It is a great place for the whole family. I will go back again and again! A VERY EXCEPTIONAL RESTURANT FOR WILMINGTON, ILLINOIS.
