Since 1996 I have entrusted my dogs to Steve and his staff at The Barking Lot. My dogs have all been excited to enter the shop, push through the swinging door to get to the back to get started on their spa day. As Sandi lost her sight and aged, they took special care of her which I sincerely appreciated. I would never take my pups anywhere else.
Ignore the bad reviews! Barking Lot has always done a great job with our dog, and for a great price. I just took my dog there two weeks ago for a bath, cut, and nail trim, and they did a great job as always. Other places can charge double the cost or more. I was almost fooled by the phony bad reviews - when I saw the owner's response, I decided to take a chance on them again. I'm glad I did. The people are friendly, the service is professional, and their work is superb. What's more, they are patient with my dog, who is always a little scared of unusual places and hair clippers! If you want good care of your dog for a reasonable price, the Barking Lot is the place to go.
My four-legged son was the apple of my eye and I just didn't trust him with anyone. He was groomed and loved for 9 years at The Barking Lot. He enjoyed his visits so much that my husband and I jokingly referred to it as Skeeter's "Day at the Spa". Steve and his staff were absolutely wonderful with Skeeter. He was always expertly groomed, and if you've ever had a Basset Hound, you know those toe nails and big long ears are quite an undertaking. The Barking Lot goes way beyond a normal pet grooming shop. They take the time and interest to not only groom your pet but to love and spoil them at the same time! Skeeter had health issues that they paid particular interest to and made sure he was always comfortable and happy. Its a wonderful shop full of wonderful people. When my Skeeter passed away, I think the folks at The Barking Lot were as upset as I was. If you're like me and scrutinize your groomer as closely as you did your child's babysitter, then your search is over.
I have taken my pet to the Barking Lot for a long time. My dog has always received excellent care. He has a skin disorder and the staff at the Barking Lot has always taken the time to ensure that they gave him special skin treatments. I believe that Steve Boschen's Barking Lot is the best of the best in the Richmond area. I recommend this grooming shop to all my friends. The staff are always friendly and always have my dog ready when I arrive.
I've been using Steve and his wonderful groomers for over 15 years and find them friendly and caring. They always treat my Bouv with tender loving care and clip her to my specifications, rather than sticking to a 'standard' look. She consistently is well groomed and looks great when I pick her up! I appreciate their flexibility in keeping Uri and me happy. Although bathing and clipping are not her favorite things to do every three weeks, Uri gladly prances to the back and takes her spot, knowing that those tending to her care about her!
The Barking Lot is the best place I've found for grooming my dog. The employees are professional, friendly and experienced and my dog loves them. I know he's safe and well cared for while he's being groomed. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my little guy.

I have two Pekes that I'd take no where else. My boys love a day of pampering at the Barking lot. We have been going to this great place for over 6 years and always have top notch care! The best for my best.

This is the ONLY place in Richmond to take your furry babies for grooming!
terrific people that do great work with all ages of dogs. also they can handle all temperments of dogs. just a great place, highly recommended.
I found the people at The Barking Lot to be very professional and very friendly. My Yorkie, who'd had a painful experience with a previous groomer when she got her nails clipped, loved the staff at The Barking Lot.
