I need to share our experience with Vintage Workshop in the hopes that others do not have the same disappointments.I hired Steve to restore two mahogany dressers.85% of the wood on dressers was in great shape.A drawer was cracked down the middle and needed gluing. Two small drawers needed some serious veneerTLC & both need a good cleaning & protective coat.I texted with pics & explained what I wanted: maintain patina, repairs done & look good.He assured me several times that the pieces would look great.Quoted 350-375 each to restore. After many excuses & 3 ½ months from the pick-up date,he finally delivers on June 7, Steve and a helper unload them & I see underneath the dressers are covered with webs & spider egg sacks. The pieces were placed upright &both dressers & mirrors were absolutely filthy, covered in dust and it made me upset. What professional would deliver the restored pieces like that? The veneer drawers did not look good from what I could see under the dust,he explained it was the best that could be done & protect the patina.I didn’t understand why he would not stain the raw edges of the crack in the drawer,it would blend in better.A clear coat's on it now.We couldn’t move the furniture until July 1st.Got rags and oil and cleaned. Found white paint splatter on both, took the drawers out to clean & dust wouldn’t come off.He put a clear coat right over a thick layer of dust in the drawer inserts! I sent pictures and what was wrong.I texted and called,no answer so I sent a text on 7/12th (11 days from the text and pictures I sent) with firm options, it was the one and only response I would get.He blamed me for waiting 3 weeks,I should not have trusted him and made him wait for me to clean up the pieces that were to be cleaned by him in the first place. He said if I was honest and cordial he would have touched up the furniture which is just another of his excuses. This is about Steve not standing behind his work, sloppy and poor workmanship, excuses, lack of ethics.
