The most delicious food. I have lived in NJ for several years and ensured that every visit to Illinois, I ate at Kampai. The food has such flavor. The sauces are like no other. The ginger dressing and soup are out of this world. **Try the golden shrimp**

This is a favorite of ours. The chefs entertain and prepare your meal right at your table, which surrounds the cooking surface and seats approx 10. Whether you're at a table with family or strangers it's always comfortable and fun. The food is very good, the steak cooked exactly to order. I would suggest the Kampai special (combination of steak, teriyaki (sp?) chicken, and garlic shrimp. This restaurant is great to bring kids too. For a Japanese Steak house the cost is average, the Kampai Special is $26.00 and this includes salad (wonderful dressing, yum!) and dessert. The service from the chefs is good - great, the staff if average - good. The exterior is deceptive, it's located in a strip mall???and it's not flashy, but don't let the outside fool you. Go inside and prepare to have a good time.

Excellent food! Your cooks are great fun, and real nice! Your hosts on the other hand can be a little more friendly on the phone and in person.
