General Info
Alarming statistics show that approximately 42% of Kern County’s population, or roughly 2 in 5 people, do not have access to quality eye care services. The Advanced Center for Eyecare (ACE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit medical eye care clinic, whose mission is to provide high-quality medical and surgical eye care to underserved and uninsured children, adults and seniors in Kern County. As the only specialized eye care non-profit organization in Kern County, we are committed to reducing the number of people who are living with vision impairment. ACE aims to make high-quality eye care available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. To that end, in addition to accepting most private PPO insurance plans, we are proud to accept most public health plans such as Kern Family Healthcare, Medi-Cal, Medicare and Covered California. And for those without insurance, ACE offers an income-based sliding scale program and donation-supported grant program. The Advanced Center for Eyecare’s eye doctors, four optometrists and two ophthalmologists, provide routine eye exams, diabetic eye exams, contact lens assessments, eye disease management and testing, surgical eye care, and low vision evaluation for those in need. And through our in-house Optical Department, we are able to fill prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses while offering a large selection of eyewear. In 2017, with the generous support of our donors and community partnerships, ACE was able to see 18,466 patients, dispense 7,297 pairs of glasses and perform 401 sight-restoring surgeries.
