We work with your family veterinarian to offer expert and compassionate care to pet owners in Connecticut’s Farmington Valley and surrounding communities. At Avon Veterinary Emergency Referral, we combine our expertise and dedication with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment capabilities to provide exceptional veterinary emergency care. Completely renovated in 2015, our hospital features digital x-ray, ultrasound and a complete laboratory, which allow for enhanced diagnostic capabilities with prompt results. Our facilities have a full surgical suite for patients that require emergency surgery. A state-of-the-art oxygen unit is available for patients that may need extra support. In addition, a separate Feline Intensive Care Unit (ICU) allows cats to be treated, and recover in comfort.

Our diagnostic services include: digital radiography; ultrasonography; electrocardiography (EKG); critical patient monitoring including blood gas, and invasive and non-invasive blood pressure measurement; in-house laboratory blood and urine analysis including complete blood count (CBC), chemistry, and coagulation. Our treatment services include: full surgical suite for patients requiring immediate surgical intervention; sophisticated anesthesia and pain relief protocols; special oxygen unit for patients that need extra support; blood transfusions; complete pharmacy ensures that patients receive the medications they need in the hospital and when they are ready to go home.
