I was looking for pork liver to make Boudin sausage. I took a chance by riding over to Knight's to see if they had it, and they did. There was a gentleman cleaning the storefront when I got there. He spoke, and opened the door for me to enter. First impression is how cool it was inside the building, which I really appreciated on a July day in Georgia. Next was the nice meat display in the front of the store. There were nice cuts of steaks, various store made sausages, and loads of my all time favorite food; bacon! As I looked around, I was offered assistance several times, which was very nice, and finally I settled upon a young lady to assist me with finding ,my Pork liver. She went directly to the cooler where it was, bagged it for me, &; sent me to the cashier. As I was leaving, I asked her about special orders. I like unsmoked bacon & she said they had some. I told her I was cooking a Crown Roast for my Christmas dinner. She told me they could get me one. I was very impressed with the service & courteous people at Knight's & they will be getting my repeat business.

In Augusta there are two known meat shops: Doug's and Knight's. I've been to both and found that the meat quality is lower at Knight's when compared to Doug's. However, there is one thing that Knight's does have - meat wise - over Doug's, and that's the pre-made hamburger patties. Knight's also has better pricing packages and more vegetable selection over Doug's as well.

Overall, if you want more selection of vegetation and better hamburgers, then head to Knight's. But, if you're a major carnivore and want better quality meat, then head to Doug's and pay a few more cents on the dollar for finer cuts of meat.
